Edd Akers was born and raised in the Branson area. His father, the late Elven Akers, founded Akers Insurance Agency in 1952. Before taking over operations of the company at age 27, Edd earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration, and a Master’s Degree in accounting, from the University of Missouri. In the 1980s, Edd completed his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certifications.

Edd has served as the vice-president, treasurer, and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Independent Agents of Missouri. He has been a member of the company advisory boards for Aetna, Allstate, Columbia, General Accident, St. Paul and Transamerica. He was also a member of the Missouri Association of Independent Agents Task Force (MAIA) to restore public confidence in the insurance industry, and served as a member of the MAIA public relations committee.

In addition to his active role in the insurance industry, Edd maintains a personal commitment to serving his community. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Ozark Mountain Bank; member and chairman of Physician Hospital Organization (PHO); board member of Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch; advisory board member for Church Army; chairman of the Branson Lakes Area Tax Enhancement District; member and treasurer of the Taney Economic Partners Corporation (TEPCOR); member of the Advisory Board for the Taneyhills Library Club, and active member of the Branson/Hollister Rotary Club.

Edd has a deep sense of pride in his community. His years of experience in the insurance industry, coupled with his dedication to community service, has helped make the Branson/Lakes Area a great place to live and work.
